How little we know

“And these are but the outer fringe of his works.” Job 26:14

(Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading – Job 25-26 & Mark 15-16)

Job is talking about God’s marvels.

Not what you would expect from someone who has virtually lost everything.

Job is worried about the uncertainties about God but he recognizes God unfathomable power.

Job considers himself righteous and doesn’t understand how the calamities he’s faced are from God. He knows that God is capable of such things but Job doesn’t understand why they are happening to someone as righteous as he sees himself being.

It is impossible for me to over-estimate God. He is beyond any measure. Even His time is not my time. I am a clay pot and He is the potter. He does with me as He wishes.

Being a believer doesn’t eliminate me from suffering. I know, however, that my God is with me in any situation. That is comfort enough.

Can I be as effusive in praise to God in less-fortunate situations as well as pleasant ones? Job’s situation is terrible…………he has lost everything. Yet he knows that there is a God but like the psalmist David, he’s unhappy with his current situation. God is a loving Father. He hears all our cries………..and laughter.

“Lord, You are God of everything. I cannot sort out Your Ways. I can see bits and pieces of them, however. Forgive me for ever lessening You in thought and deed. I want to rightly represent You in everything. Help me to do just that, I beg. Guide me, O thou great Jehovah.”

Are you acceptable to God?
