Waiting patiently

“You are my strength, I watch for you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.”  Psalm 59:9-10.

Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading: 1 Samuel 19, 1 Chronicles 7, Psalm 59, and Matthew 4.

Patience is a virtue.

In life we are sometimes forced to wait for fallible humans.  That doesn’t always work out well!

“I’ll pick you up at X.”  You wait and wait.

In these verses, however, the One we are waiting for is God.  He will do what He promises.  He is totally reliable.

It is important for me to remember that God is on His own schedule.  Quite certainly it is not close to anything I would have in mind.

When I have (in my head) that the world revolves around me, I can be more than certain that His timing and mine truly have nothing in common!

God has put me where I am for His reason.  I may not be able to fathom why.  Certainly David being pursued by Saul’s soldiers couldn’t understand why……….but David declared God to be reliable.  I must do the same no matter what.

My goal is to please God in everything I do.  I need Him desperately.

“You are my God.  I love You, Father.  Forgive me for running ahead and displaying my godless urgencies to go my own way.  I do not want my ways.  I want Your Ways.  Help me, I beg, this day.”

God is reliable.  I can be patient living in His Will.
