Keep yourself pure

“Keep yourself pure.”  1 Timothy 5:22.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: 2 Kings 10, 2 Chronicles 22-23, and 1 Timothy 5.

Simple advice.

If I want to rightly represent God in my midst, I need to be pure.  What does that mean?  I cannot live with worldly carry-on’s attached to me.

Think of all the worldly distractions in our midst.  Things that take away our Godly effectiveness.

For me it includes unexpected complications.  I am trying to cook something and find that one of the key utensils is broken.  I could mellow out and contemplate Plan B or I could get “stirred” up about my circumstances.  This AM I chose to get stirred up!

I must be so firmly attached to God that any and all disruptions will not shake me from rightly representing Him.  What a way to go I have in that regard!

Paul tells Timothy what he is supposed to do.  I have the Holy Spirit to do the same thing.  I have God’s Word to do the same thing.  I am not without power and instruction.  Will I connect to God and follow His instructions?  It is there for the taking.  Will I make the full-time commitment to serve Him 24/7?

“Lord, I am flawed.  Even though You have lifted the burden of sin, I continue to be drawn to it.  Forgive me.  Help me to attach myself to You.  May my connection to You express itself in my behavior.  Prick my conscience when I mess things up so that I can repent and be restored to You.  You have given me a great life.  Thank You, Lord.

We must get rid of the impurities in our lives if we want to rightly serve Him.
