“But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” Psalm 73:28.
Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: Hosea 10-12, Psalm 73, and Hebrews 4.
This is the way to live!
If I am near to God, I’ll get into a lot less trouble.
I remember years ago having the thought in my head that before I chose to go somewhere I had to consider whether or not I could bring God there. If there was some discomfort, then I knew that I should reconsider. Sometimes I would begin to consider how I could bring God to a location. How would I act? What wouldn’t I do or say?
God must be where my ultimate security is located. That should lead me to spontaneous praying. As much as I like the daily devotions/prayer I have, I also must not let spontaneity take a back seat. This is part of yesterday’s topic about turning thoughts into prayers and actions.
I must be tuned into God’s Hand in my life. I must see the beautiful flowers in our yard as a visual gift from God. He is truly an amazing Gardener! I found a beautiful fox glove that had seeded itself away from our organized gardens. It may be more beautiful than the flowers we have in our gardens. Untended. Unwatered. Yet showing wonderful beauty nonetheless. Thank You, Lord.
“Thank You, Lord, for Your gifts to me. Thank You that You are Someone who cares about me. Someone I can turn to. Someone I can brag about. I love You, Father. Thank You for the lovely flowers in my midst.”
What should a believer do? Pretty straightforward in today’s verse.
