The perfect priest

“Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people.  He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.”  Hebrews 7:27.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: Micah 5-7, and Hebrews 7.

Talk about Good News!

Our sins past/present/future are taken care of.  The sacrificial system has ended.

The Perfect Priest brought that system to an end.  No more daily sacrifices.  The priest, himself, needed sacrifices for himself as well as everyone else.  Not the Perfect Priest.  Sinless was He.

The quality of the sacrifice was important.  Blemishes were a problem.  BUT Jesus was not only the perfect priest but also the perfect sacrifice.  He had no sin blemishes.

He became the sacrificial lamb for us and in the process ended the need for the sacrificial system.  How?  He destroyed the power of sin over us once and forever.  No more daily sacrifices needed.

This Good News has happened.  Jesus lifted the burden of sin from us forever.  We have an unburdened life.  In fact, like Jesus three days later, we have a new life and must live accordingly.

The News has happened.  Will you live in its reality?

“Lord, thank You for loving us so much.  Thank You for the Good News.  Help me to live in that reality.  Forgive me for ever separating from You.  I want to live as You want me to live.  Enable me to do that, I plead.”

Jesus dying for your sins is Good News.  Do you understand why?
