The future

“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”  Hebrews 9:27-28.

Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading: Isaiah 11-14, and Hebrews 9.

Jesus is coming back.  That is the other part of the Good News.

The first part?  Jesus took care of our sin problem when He died, taking our punishment.

We no longer are burdened by sin…………unless we choose to burden ourselves by sin.

We have new life because sin’s weight has been lifted off of us.

Jesus is coming back.  When?  No one knows.  Those who claim to know when are liars.  Harsh language?  “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” – (Matthew 24:36).  Jesus doesn’t know when He will return!

Those who refuse to accept the reality of the Good News need to fear the Judgment Day.  Why?  They will be punished for their unbelief.

For those living in the Good News’ reality it will be a wonderful day.  Judgment Day does not concern them.

Christ will return to earth to finish the work of making the world into the way He wants it to be.  Christ will physically be in our presence.

Our current task is to make the world into what God would want it to be.

“Lord God, You know the future.  You know the end game.  Help me to do Your work in the days that I have left.  Guide me.  Thank You for the certainty that You are in charge of my future.  Thank You for that comfort.  Fill me with You, I beg.”

NO ONE except God the Father knows when Jesus will return.
