No turning back

“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.” 1 Peter 1:14.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: Isaiah 36-37, Psalm 76, and 1 Peter 1.

You can’t go back!

I think it boils down to priorities.  Before you started to act according to the Good News, some things were important that no longer are.

Much of godless life is making the best deal for #1.  That changes when God’s Holy Spirit is in charge.  Now the drive is to determine and carry out God’s Will.

It is easy to get lulled into the whims of the culture we live in.  “Everyone’s doing it,” is a common mantra.  Why be “intolerant” of lifestyles that defy Scripture?  Go along with it.  Don’t create a scene!

BUT God knows best.  I must be sure that I am obeying Him.  I must be sure that I am rightly representing Him.

The bottom line is that my life MUST be enveloped by God.  I cannot allow myself to pilot my life.

Things in life can happen quickly.  Suddenly I am put in a place where I can speak up or sit back.  I want my timing to be Godly.  Sometimes I do need to speak up.  Sometimes I need to listen.  Either way, the timing must be God’s.

“Lord, I am weak.  I am vulnerable to wandering from You.  It is never a happy ending when I go that way.  Forgive me.  Cleanse me of the stains my follies create.  Fill me with You.  Remove the sludge that blurs my thinking.  You are my God.  I love You, Father.”

Fill yourself with God and His perfect timing will follow.  Your words will be His Words.  Wow!

+12 Giving up?
