Do you feel as if praying is a waste of time?
Many folks do but when things get real tough they get right back to it in a hurry.
I find today’s chosen verse to be extremely obvious: If I am filled with God then my prayers will be answered.
I think that the struggle here is thinking that we can get the second part (prayer answered) without being certain that the first part (filled with God) is in place.
The more and more I read the Bible the more knowledge I accumulate. I see things I had missed. I connect things I hadn’t connected before. This is academic stuff. My accumulations are in my head. What’s missing? The accumulations getting to my heart.
I find at times that something someone else says in a conversation will bring Scripture to my mind. But is it something that is coming out of my mind or is it from my heart? If it is from my mind, then it will emerge as a know-it-all. If it is from my heart, then it will sound like Him not me.
In my written prayers on this blog I often mention God’s Words as something I want. And I do want them but they must come from a heart that loves God not a head that accumulates thoughts from the Bible.
These are such important things to consider and I am thankful for the Scripture that has led to it.
“Lord, fill my heart with You. I have Your Holy Spirit but does Your Holy Spirit have all of me? I want that. Forgive me for learning of You but not being overwhelmed by You. Take over my heart, I beg. I love You, Father.”
