“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18.
Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: Jeremiah 31-32, and 1 John 4.
If I am filled with God’s love, I will not be afraid.
We fear when we look at our resources and find them lacking.
If I have God within me, and I am living out that truth, I have nothing to fear. Why? God is in charge.
Does that mean that I won’t get into tough times? No, it doesn’t. No matter what “times” I get into, however, God is there with me.
It is important to note that I must be in Him. I must recognize His place within my life. I must act as if I belong to Him………..because I do. There is nothing in a future under those conditions that should be fearsome.
The burden that my sins are to my relationship to God was lifted when Jesus took sin’s curse with Him to death. Sin lost its hold as an obstacle to an eternal life with God. That’s Good News!
Believing that News ends my fear of the future. If I start getting fearful about things it is because I have lost track of the fact that my future in God is set forever.
“Lord, forgive me for my fears. I have You in my heart. I need not fear what comes along. I can trust You to use what comes along for Your glory. I love You, Father.”
Our fears betray an unsettled relationship with God.
