“Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned them, just as God has called them.” 1 Corinthians 7:17.
Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: Job 35-36, and 1 Corinthians 7-8.
Things get rough and we want to escape them.
Today’s chosen verse cautions against such an action.
God has put you where you are, at least for the moment. While you are there, your task is to live like a believer.
How does a believer live? A believer is clinging to God for everything.
When things are smooth, everyone is acting right.
Unsettle the waters a bit and then see what happens. I ran into trouble where I work today. I didn’t like the way I was treated. Reactionary thoughts? “Why don’t I quit?” “Why don’t I demand an apology?” Thought since reading today’s verse: “Why don’t I react like a believer?”
God has placed me where I am. I MUST rightly represent Him there. The conditions are what they are. If I am filled with Him, I will be able to represent Him. If not, I will misrepresent Him. I will prove my shallow relationship to Him.
I persist in writing/thinking, but not always doing, that I must have a 24/7 relationship with God. I cannot function rightly with anything less. I drift away from Him and sooner or later I will act and react inappropriately. It is a sad state that I have not taken hold of God as I should. Pray for me.
“Lord, I am disappointed that my relationship to You often is seasonal. I want it to be full-time. I want the ability to rightly represent You wherever I am. Too often I slide away from You and then things blow up in my face. With You in control, the situations I face won’t alter my relationship to You. I want that, Father. Help me, Lord.”
Will we act like believers through thick and thin?
