Doing what you can

“So Bezalel, Oholiah and every skilled person to whom the Lord has given skill and ability to know how to carry out all the work of constructing the sanctuary are to do the work just as the Lord has commanded.” Exodus 36:1.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading:  Exodus 35-36, and Acts 10.

It is very clear in this verse where skills come from: God.  He gives them to us.  They are His gifts.

How easy it is to grab the credit for things we do and forget His part in empowering us.

I like the part in this verse where an “all” in followed by an inference to the workers doing “their” part.  There is a big picture here but there are also smaller pictures.  We have to do our parts to make the whole better.

It is easy to minimize ourselves out of involvement.  We rationalize our way out of things.  “I don’t have time.”  “It will cut into my sleep.”  List your own.

God wants us.  He expects us to use what we have to get His work done on earth.  We are to be part of preparing this earth for His return.

“Lord, what do You want me doing?  I seek Your Will.  Reveal to me my best course of action.  In Your Strength I will do it.  Forgive me for offering excuses to avoid Your Wishes.  I love You, Father.”

Are we willing to do our part?
