“A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’ Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.” Matthew 8:2-3.
Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading: 1 Samuel 24, Psalm 57 & 58, 1 Chronicles 8, and Matthew 8.
Jesus is the healer. There was no ailment that He couldn’t instantly cure.
The leper in this story recognized how incredible were the powers of the man he was kneeling before. He knew some of the stories of what Jesus had done. There had been other lepers healed. He knew what Jesus could do.
This leper’s approach was that Jesus could heal him if He wanted to.
Jesus recognized the man’s enlightened attitude and healed him.
God’s capabilities are unlimited. We have no obstacle in our lives that He can’t deal with. How would we be different if we really believed that? We wouldn’t be so worried. We wouldn’t assume that God would work in the way we think He would. We would flat-out trust Him to know what to do.
God has blessed each of us. We have so much. But how often do we “see” what we don’t have? If we are in God, then what we have is what we need…….no more, no less.
“Lord, You are the healer. I know that You can heal the 6-year-old in our church who has stage four cancer if You are willing. Her family loves You and their young daughter. Intervene, I beg. Bypass the medical solutions, I beg. You are a great God.”
God’s ability to heal cannot be questioned.
