When prayer doesn’t work

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”  Psalm 34:15-16.

Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading: Isaiah 40-42, and I Peter 3.

Believers in sin need to pay heed.

It is truly unnerving to imagine that my prayers can be ignored by God.

Today’s verses seem to say that God will look away from us if we persist in evil.

I look at this at being “known” evil.  I knew that something I did/said/thought was evil and did nothing about it.  What could I have done about it?  I could have prayed for forgiveness.  I could have invoked Scripture (James 4:7) into the situation, “Submit yourselves, therefore to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

There certainly is the probability of having committed undetected sins.  Therefore, I need to consistently ask God for cleansing from known and unknown sins.

I want that cleanness before Him in place so that He doesn’t turn away from me.  I need an intimate relationship with Him that is 24/7.

“Lord, the more I read Your Word the more I realize that my life MUST be clean before You.  I cannot swim in known sin.  I must confess it and get clean before You.  Prick my conscience when I am in sin so that I can make things right with You and with those involved.  I want my relationship with You to be unflawed.  Help me, Lord, I beg.”

I must not do anything to impede my relationship to God.  I need Him that much!
