I must change my ways

“Therefore say to the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Repent!  Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices!’”  Ezekiel 14:6.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: Ezekiel 12-14, and Revelation 5.

Good advice for all of us!

We must rid ourselves of the counterfeit gods we continue to turn to rather than turning to God.

We must stop doing the things that we know are wrong.

It really is quite elementary: Get ourselves right with God.

It is easy to minimize our own connection to the ways of the Old Testament folks but we shouldn’t.  We’re like them.  They displeased God and He called them out on it.  Some of them were wise enough to repent, others went about their usual ways.

I have a very good idea of what displeases God.  I know it in my conscience.  There is a voice within me alerting me and condemning me.  I need to have both of those things happening.  I want to know when I am displeasing God.

I often know that what I’m doing is wrong but I often jump into the deep end anyhow.  The more I swim around in there the further I feel myself getting from God.  And that troubles me.  It troubles me greatly when I think of how I am damaging my relationship with Him.  It is a relationship that is the most important one I have.  I can’t be compromised.

Knowing the consequences, enlarges my uneasiness when I’m apart from Him.  I must repent and I must do it at once.  I must get things right with Him.

“Lord, forgive me of my sins.  I do not want to displease You.  I need a tight connection to You at all times.  Continue to prick my conscience.  I need that.  Pressure me, I beg, to live as You want me to live.  There is no one like You.”

Do you know how to repent?  Will you admit that you were wrong?
