“His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation. All the people of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the people of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: ‘What have you done?’” Daniel 4:34-35.
Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading: Daniel 3-4, Psalm 81, and Revelation 17.
Do we realize how awesome God is?
He didn’t create some of the things around us……He created it all.
The “does as he pleases with the powers of heaven” caused me to reflect on Hurricane Irma. The “experts” had the storm going one way but it ended up going a different way.
It should make us wonder, “Who’s in charge here?”
Those who trust God know that He is in charge. He will have the ultimate say on what happens.
In today’s passage, Nebuchadnezzar declares a reality that he finally figured out after seven years departed from sanity.
If I claim to be in charge of anything, I am loosening my grip on God’s reality. I am following the godless steps of Nebuchadnezzar. He claimed that Babylon was his doing.
We must not be taking credit for the things accomplished. God has gifted us with abilities and opportunities. To Him be all glory!
“Lord, You are great. You are in charge. All glory and honor to You. I am needy of Your guidance. Direct my path this day, I beg. I love You, Lord.”
Nebuchadnezzar learned the hard way about grabbing credit that belonged to God. Will we learn from his lesson?
