“’I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.’” Luke 1:38.
Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: Ezekiel 45-46, and Luke 1.
Mary receives an amazing message from Gabrielle, recorded in Luke 1.
The message was amazing and her response is also amazing.
How different her life was going to be thereafter!
How do we handle changes in our lives? If God is in charge, there will be changes since our view of “the way” is cloudy.
I like to know things. I want to chart a course. I want to prepare for the future………as I see it.
But God would prefer that I lessen my preparations and concentrate on doing His Will in the here and now. This doesn’t mean that I don’t take care of anything. If I have a wood stove I will be gathering wood before the winter. But it does mean that if circumstances take me to another region of the country, I will be able to live for Him there as well.
Mary was the perfect servant because she was ready and willing to do what her Master wanted. She recognized that He knew what was best for her and lived accordingly.
“Lord, I too am Your servant. I belong to You. Forgive me for leaving You out of decisions I make. Forgive me for taking root in behaviors that displease You. I want You in total charge. Lead me where You want me to go. I surrender this day to You. I love You, Lord.”
I must live as God’s servant.
