“Yet they say to God, ‘Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways. Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What would we gain by praying to him?’ But their prosperity is not in their own hands, so I stand aloof from the plans of the wicked.” Job 21:14-16.
Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading; Job 21, and Mark 5-6.
Job’s so-called friends claim that the wicked are paid back early for their wickedness. Job disagrees.
Job has a clear view of the wicked. It seems to bother him that so many of the well-off have no use for God.
I live in a world where many have no use for God. He is irrelevant to them or they doubt that He even exists. The here-and-now’s of their lives are their primary concern.
It is sad because there will come a time when they will face the God they have chosen to ignore. What will happen to them then?
Those who have rejected God on earth aren’t looking to spend an eternity with Him. They have chosen to live apart from God here on earth and that will continue in their after-life.
I must reach those rejecters. I must persuade as many as I can. I cannot do this when I start those sentences with “I.” God must be leading me. I will go where He isn’t leading me otherwise and do a ton of damage. O how I need Him!
“Lord, there are many in my midst who have rejected You. You love them. Help me to love them as You do. If You want my words involved, please make mine Your Words. I fear failing You. I fear pushing people further away from You. I cling to You for wisdom. Help me, Lord.”
God must be my guide in witnessing to those who are rejecting Him.
