I’m proud of what I did

“If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.”  1 Peter 4:11.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading; 1 Peter 1-5.

If I am using God’s Words, how dare I brag about them.

Of course, if the words are my words then certainly I should take all the credit.

That’s what makes today’s verse troubling; I must be using God’s Words.

This doesn’t just apply to preaching; it’s blogging, it’s conversations.

I do not think that this means that every word must come directly from Scripture.  It does mean, however, that my thoughts must be full of Him.  Then when those Godly thoughts end up in some sort of presentation, they will bring glory to Him.

Verses like today’s, motivate me to want to absorb more of Him so that I can relay Him to those in my midst and to those in the blogosphere.

The more I know (of Him), and the less I do for show (of me), the better things will be.

“Lord, I need You every second.  Fill me with You so that I will stop being full of myself.  I want to rightly represent You this day.  Empower me to get my priorities correct.  Guide me.  Direct me.  I yield to You.  You are my God.”

Are you waiting for a pat on the back?  Every good gift comes from Him.  What have you done on your own?  Of course, if it’s on your own then a godless back pat makes sense.
