Being where you have to be

“’Why were you searching for me?’ he asked. ‘Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?’”  Luke 2:49.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading; Genesis 3-5, and Luke 2.

Note that the word “Father’s” is capitalized.

Jesus had an earthly father (Joseph) but He also had a heavenly Father (God).

I must be about my Father’s business.

My earthly father is deceased, so I no longer answer to his plans.  But there are others who have expectations for what I should or shouldn’t do.

The bigger picture is: What does God my Father want me doing?

I must be about His business.

I must be doing things that please Him.  To pull this off I will need to be close to Him at all times.

How is this done?  I must pray without ceasing.  His thoughts must be running through my head.  I want to be at the place where His thoughts easily override any of my own.

I live in a world that is confusing.  There are so many voices and so many draws away from Him.  I am easily misled.  I am quick to misstep.  My need for a powerful relationship with Him is obvious.

“O Lord, I want to be where You want me to be today.  I want Your Words flowing from my mouth.  I cannot pull this off without Your dominance in my life.  I surrender now to You.  Take me over.  I love You, Lord.”

Where does God want you to be today?  Have you asked Him?
