“Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: ‘Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?’” Mark 8:17-18.
Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading; Numbers 28-29, and Mark 8.
Why am I not doing what God wants?
God has a plan for my life. My task is to discern what that plan is and then follow it with all my strength.
Today’s verse deals with the “discerning” part.
When I read about the disciples I wonder why they often forgot what Jesus had done. Earlier they witnessed Jesus feeding five thousand. It was indeed a miracle showing God’s power.
The disciples continued to be surprised by what Jesus did. How was that possible? They had not totally bought into the fact that Jesus was the Messiah and therefore capable of doing anything.
The Pharisees thought that Jesus was a fraud and therefore anything He did was fraudulent. By being so surprised, the disciples were falling into the same misconception.
“Lord, You are beyond description. There are no limits to what You can do. Forgive me for forgetting that Your Ways are beyond my comprehension. Help me to stay in awe of them! Thank You for life. For wealth. For a family. Guide me, O thou great Jehovah.”
Is God still surprising you?
