Who are you working for?

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.  It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”  Colossians 3:23-24.

Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading: 1 Kings 20-21, 2 Chronicles 17, and Colossians 3.

Believers ultimately work for God.  We may be employed by individuals/companies, but God is the overseer of our work.

With that in mind, my approach to any work changes.  I want to do it as unto Him.

What does this look like?  There will be no corners cut.  No side-trips away from what needs to be done.

I may end up in disagreement with associates over how our competition is treated because I want to do it God’s way.

If I am not filled with God, I will fail at serving Him.  I will have good intentions but too often I will shame God by my negligence.

“Lord, You are with me and that must impact how I work.  You are nearby.  You see me.  You hear me.  I cannot function in a Godly manner unless I am under the influence of You.  Take me over, I beg, right now.  Direct me.  Correct me.  I love You, Lord.”

I must be completely aware that all my work is done in God’s sight.
