There is a way out

“When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.” Jonah 3:10.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading; Jonah 1-4, and 2 Timothy 2.

The Ninevites believed Jonah.

The reluctant prophet warned them that they would be destroyed by God in forty days.

The reaction of the Ninevites impressed God.  He can read hearts and knew that they were repentant.  So He spared them.

There are messages in there for me and for those I see to be away from God.

I must keep myself in a place where my sinfulness gets my attention.  I cannot dip into continuous sinning.  There has to be an end.  Jonah alerted these folks to their sins and what the consequences would be.  I must call sin in my life what it is.  I must remember that there are consequences to sin. Repenting must be the immediate next step.

To those away from God, there always is a road back.  I cannot write off anybody as too far gone with no chance of getting right with God.  God saves sinners and that covers all of us!  No one in our family is too far gone.  We, in Him, can always have hope for their salvation.

“Lord, thank You for Your Word.  So many great stories.  So many lessons presented.  Help me to be very clear regarding my sinfulness and its consequence.  I never want to be alien to You.  I need You close therefore I must keep myself close to You at all times.  Help me, Lord.  You are a great God.”

God welcomes those who turn to Him and repent.
