Why did Jesus come to earth?

“Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.  But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins.  And in him is no sin.”  1 John 3:4-5.

Jesus came to earth to take care of our sin problem.

And He did it for all of us.

Our sins were going to catch up to us on Judgment Day.  God is perfect and if we weren’t, we wouldn’t be spending our post-Judgment days with Him.

We needed Someone to do something about our sins before we stood before God on Judgment Day.

We needed a sacrifice to be offered for our sins that would please God.  Remember the problem Cain had: his sacrifice was unacceptable to God.

We needed a perfect (sinless) sacrifice and therefore God sent Perfection to earth to die for our sins.

We must believe that we are sinners.  We must believe that Jesus died for our sins.  We must show our love to Him for His sacrifice by striving to do what He wants us to do.  He gives believers His Holy Spirit to help them do what He wants.

When believers stand before God on Judgment Day they will be judged clean in His sight because of their trust in what Jesus did.  Hallelujah, what a Savior!

Conclusion: Judgment Day is a piece of cake for believers.
