How dare I say that I have the love of God in me?

“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?”  1 John 3:17.

I am struck with the question, “how can the love of God be in that person?”

It is easy to think of the big things in this regard and declare myself, “doing it well.”

But I can’t escape that love is to be given in ALL situations.  Do I look for the BIG needs and miss the needs in my midst that aren’t big.

My wife is on the phone and can’t give an accurate address of a place so that a GPS can be used. I am sitting within earshot of the conversation.  How might the “love of God” reveal itself from me?  Find the address for her and relay it to her!

Think of another Bible question: “Who do you think that I am?”  This one was asked by Jesus.  What would folks say back to me if I asked that question about myself?  My words/deeds must carry the day.  If those things mislead others, regarding my connection to God, then it is time to change.

My love of God must overflow to those in my midst.  It can’t be a calculated overflowing.  It should happen as the day unfolds.

How to get there?  My life must be filled with God.  His Holy Spirit must have a home in me.  My relationship to Him must be unceasing.  Oh, to get there!

Conclusion: I must live as if the love of God in me…….because it is.
