Living in sin

“Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.  I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue.  If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.”  Psalm 66:16-19.

I can’t harbor sin.

If I know what I’m doing is wrong, I need to confess it to God and ask forgiveness.

Note the serious consequence for harboring sin: God won’t hear my prayer.  We’re not even talking about answering the prayer.  Just hearing it!

I need to imagine being ignored by God.  What would be left?  I would be going it alone.

I need God for every second of my life.  His Holy Spirit has been implanted within me.  I need all the guidance He can give me.

I need to be searching my heart.  I need to insist that God examine my heart.  I want to be clean before Him.

The life of the believer is a never-ending pursuit of being right with God.  I cannot let up in that pursuit.

Conclusion: I realize that staying close to God is crucial.
