Easy for God

“This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab into your hands.”  2 Kings 3:18.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: 2 Kings 1-3, Psalm 82, and 1 Timothy 1.

How can we not be impressed with God?

The “easy thing” Elisha speaks of is a currently dry valley becoming filled with water with no wind or rain involved.  The “bonus” was that the enemy would be defeated.

Both things happened.

The lives of those celebrating God’s Good News are filled with similar things.  We don’t notice them.  We don’t appreciate them.

We assume that our good deeds have “earned” us blessings.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The snow falls on the just and the unjust.

How easy it is to miss God in our daily circumstances.  I am in the early summer season in New England.  Rain has come and now there is sunshine.  Things are growing like crazy!  Food is being produced and God (the Gardener) has His Hands in the production.  Am I cognizant of this or do I just assume that it somehow happens?

God is in charge on the scene and behind the scenes.  I must never underestimate Him.  I must never take His goodness to me for granted.  He is amazing!

“Lord, thank You for the Bible.  Thank You for the stories of Your amazing deeds.  Forgive me for leaving You out of my life.  Forgive me for underestimating Your power.  Alert me to You.  Thank You for loving me.  You are the Good News!”

You have no obstacle in your life that God cannot remove.

Easy for God

“This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab into your hands.” 2 Kings 3:18

(Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 1-3 & Psalm 82 & 1 Timothy 1)

What a God!

Three kings are off trying to attack Moab. They get long-range from water and need it for the survival of themselves as well as their horses. God delivers the water.

Remarkably the water is not going to come from rain. It will just “show up” in the valley they are in.

And then to add to the remarkableness, Elisha tells them that God will enable them to defeat the Moabites.

All in a day’s work for the remarkable God that we love!

Just one more example of how unlimited God is. The only limitations on God are the ones that we impose directly or indirectly.

O me of little faith! Why do I limit Him?

There are so many stories that expose His greatness.

Recall the story of the disciples out on the Sea of Galilee with Jesus on board. When a storm came the disciples feared for their lives because they were unaware that Jesus was not only with them but He was physically with them. And also Jesus had just fed 5000 people. But for the disciples the current problem was different and Jesus hadn’t done anything with storms yet. So the limitations on Jesus were by the disciples and He soon displaced those limitations by calming the storm.

I cannot limit God. When I pray for folks I must not pray wondering if God can do something. HE CAN DO ANYTHING!

“Lord, I am guilty of limiting You. There are no limits with You. Forgive me for doing it. I have relatives with health issues. You are not overwhelmed by health issues. You know best. I give them to You.”

Unlimited God

“This in an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord.”  2 Kings 3:18

(Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading – 2 Kings 1-3 & Psalm 82 & 1 Timothy 1)

God has complete control.  Nothing is beyond Him.

In this story, there is a lack of water and an enemy to deal with.  Elisha tells the folks there that God can easily handle the situation…………and He does.

I must rely on God for solutions.  When I try to manipulate God and/or give God suggestions for solutions, I have a mistaken concept of Who God is.

I must recognize that God’s Way is the best way.  I must recognize His track record.

The situations in my life are there for His reason.  God is the ultimate coach.  He understands the situation on the floor.  He understands the abilities of His players.  His moves will be the best there can be.  My trust and confidence must be in Him.

If I consider the spiritual health of someone to be incurable then I have downsized God.  As Elisha said, “This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord!”  There is nothing too hard for Him.

“Lord, keep me from lessening You in any fashion.  You are truly a great God.  There is none like You and no one of Your capabilities.  Forgive me for lessening Your stature in any way.  I love You.  I thank You for what You have done, are doing, and will do.”
