What the end of life looks like

“He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.  They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people to be marveled at among all those who have believed.”  2 Thessalonians 1:8-10.

Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading: 1 Kings 2, 1 Chronicles 29, Psalm 95, and 2 Thessalonians 1.

Trying to figure out what the “end game” looks like?

Many wonder what will happen.  Theories abound.

Today’s verses seem clear to me.

There will be punishment in the end game.  There will also be “marveling” at Him.

If I reject the Gospel, I will pay dearly for it in the end game.  The Gospel is Good News: God/Jesus has taken care of my sin problem.  The risen Jesus has given me new life unburdened by the consequences of my sinfulness.  If I believe those truths and act accordingly then I will be among the “marveling.”  If I hear those truths and don’t live accordingly, or if I reject those truths. I will be punished.

The punishment will not be a slap on the wrist, or “Do better next time.”  It will be EVERLASTING!

“Lord, thank You for Your clarity regarding the end game in today’s verses.  We will all appear before You and be cleared or punished.  Open these truths to every reader.  They desperately need to get the end game thing right.  I love You, Father.”

Have you got the end game figured out?  I wouldn’t wait much longer for that to happen, if I were you.

Is punishment in your future? (2 Thessalonians 1:8-10)

(Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading – 1 Thessalonians 4-5 & 2 Thessalonians 1-3)

“He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.  They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed.” 2 Thessalonians 1:8-10

What lessons are there for me in this Scripture?

There are two alternatives in the after life: with God and not with God.

There are no half ways or partials or semis, just plain with or not with.

Sadly there are so many thinking that God will find a way to include them with Him in the after-life because of the accumulated good things they’ve done.

When Jesus talked about doing good things he was referring to what people should do AFTER they believe in Him.

When Jesus was on earth, believing in Him meant that you believed that He was God’s Son and you became intent on following His teachings.

After Jesus died, believing on Him additionally meant that you believed that Jesus died for your sins.  Your sins were going to keep you away from an after-life with God.

You must know that there is a God, and that there is a time ahead when your choices on earth will determine His choice for where you will spend your after-life.

For those of us who believe, the after-life will be indescribable.  We will be with Him, the Creator etc…

How did we get into this wonderful position?
(1) We believe that there is a perfect God who has no place for sinners in the after-life.
(2) We also believe that God sent His Son to die for our after-life, separating-from-Him sins.
(3) Because of what He has done, and promised to do, we want our behavior to show our love for Him while we are on earth.
