“Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.” Ecclesiastes 5:2.
Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading; Ecclesiastes 4-6, Psalm 18, and Ephesians 3.
I need to be on the listening end with God.
What can I verbalize that He doesn’t already know?
“Lord, take care of so-and-so.” He already knows about so-and-so. Better: “Lord, thank You for being there with so-and-so. Guide my response to so-and-so’s situation. Thank You, Lord.”
How easy to forget the magnitude of our God. He created the earth. He maintains the earth. He knows each of us personally. All at the same time!
And yet we want to engage Him in our “world” as if He is unaware of it! What are we thinking?
How often does our impression of God leave us overwhelmed in our inadequacies? We just don’t “get” Him as we should. If we did, it would leave us speechless, as today’s verse recommends.
“Lord, You are awesome. Forgive me for minimizing You. For seeing You as long-range and unaware. You are nearby, in fact, Your Spirit is within me. Hallelujah! What a Savior. I love You, Lord.”
Do you tell God things that He already knows?
