Hate evil (Proverbs 8:13)

(Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading – Proverbs 7-9 & Romans 9)

“To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.”  Proverbs 8:13

What lessons are there for me in this Scripture?

I must elevate my dislike for evil.  I cannot tolerate it in myself.

“Search me, O Lord.”  I must regularly beg God to examine me closely and reveal to me areas that are out of synch with His wishes.

I must be driven to be clean in His sight.  There cannot be any comfort in living otherwise.

I should also be on full alert for things in my midst that lead me into temptation and evil.  I must be very conscious of evil attractions and run from them.

GK Chesterton was born on May 28th.  God gave him the ability to write.
