Heard the Good News?

“Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people.  He sacrificed for their sins once and for all when he offered himself.”  Hebrews 7:27.

Jesus has taken care of our sin problem.  That’s what the Gospel is.

God sent Jesus on a rescue mission to save the world.  God loved the world.  He loves us.  He doesn’t want any of us to spend our after-life away from Him.

But God knew that we are all sinners and thereby unworthy of an eternity with Him.

Sin was the issue and the Good News is that God took care of our sins.

When Jesus died He took everyone’s sins with Him to death including yours and mine.

When God raised Jesus from the dead, your sins and mine were gone.  We have new life unencumbered by sin.

The act of Jesus made us acceptable for an after-life with God.  Our only part in achieving this status was to simply believe that it happened!

This is Good News yet some refuse to believe it.  On Judgment Day, their unbelief will earn them an after-life away from God.

“Lord Jesus, thank You for taking care of my sin problem.  Thank You for making me acceptable to God.  Enable me to connect with those in my family who have no interest in Your Good News.  They desperately need to believe what You have done for them.  Open their hearts and minds, I beg.”

I ask God to intervene in my family so that they will all recognize His Good News for what it is and then live according.

The perfect priest

“Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people.  He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.”  Hebrews 7:27.

Verse chosen from today’s Bible reading: Micah 5-7, and Hebrews 7.

Talk about Good News!

Our sins past/present/future are taken care of.  The sacrificial system has ended.

The Perfect Priest brought that system to an end.  No more daily sacrifices.  The priest, himself, needed sacrifices for himself as well as everyone else.  Not the Perfect Priest.  Sinless was He.

The quality of the sacrifice was important.  Blemishes were a problem.  BUT Jesus was not only the perfect priest but also the perfect sacrifice.  He had no sin blemishes.

He became the sacrificial lamb for us and in the process ended the need for the sacrificial system.  How?  He destroyed the power of sin over us once and forever.  No more daily sacrifices needed.

This Good News has happened.  Jesus lifted the burden of sin from us forever.  We have an unburdened life.  In fact, like Jesus three days later, we have a new life and must live accordingly.

The News has happened.  Will you live in its reality?

“Lord, thank You for loving us so much.  Thank You for the Good News.  Help me to live in that reality.  Forgive me for ever separating from You.  I want to live as You want me to live.  Enable me to do that, I plead.”

Jesus dying for your sins is Good News.  Do you understand why?
