This is what it takes to live a Godly life

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5-6.

Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading: Proverbs 1-3, and Romans 7.

If you’re a believer and want to know how to live, you’ve come to the right verses.

These may have been two of the first verses I ever learned as a church kid.

Need to remember that these words come from Solomon, the man who asked God for discernment and knowledge of right and wrong and received it.

To follow the point of these verses starts with a full commitment to God.  This is not the fair-weather variety of commitment.

I must believe that God is Lord and I am His love slave.  I am pledged to do what He wants.  I am committed to the realization that He will rightly direct me.

What I should be doing is not always obvious.  Sometimes there are conflicting choices.  Which one should I choose?  If I am fully trusting God, then choosing Godly will come naturally.  If I am riding my own wave, then the “right” choice will not be so obvious.

Can there be confusion?  No doubt.  But my trust in Him must not waver.  He knows what’s best.  In Him I pursue what my choice should be.

“Lord, I want to walk every step this day with You.  I cannot trust myself at all.  Forgive me for going my own way.  I need You every second.  Fill me with You now so that I do Your Will this day.  Thank You, Father.”

Wondering what it takes to live a Godly life?  These verse supply the answer.

Trust God

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

(Verses chosen from today’s Bible reading – Proverbs 1-3 & Romans 7)

Plenty to cover here.

Note the level of trust.  This is not some sort of fair weather attempt.  This is full throttle, all out.

It is so easy to follow God when things are going my way.  When I face a significant obstacle I have the tendency to undersize God and oversize the obstacle.  That’s not the way it is supposed to be.

I must rely on God.  If I can only understand that my own understanding is very limited I would approach God more often.  The biggest messes I get into are when I try to go it alone on something.  I don’t, and won’t, ever have God’s understanding.

My relationship with God must be so tight that seeking His Will comes easily and naturally.

“Lord, I need You always.  I thank You that You care for me.  I thank You that I can trust You for everything.  Forgive me for ever trusting in my own understanding.  You are my God.  I love You.”
